ABOUT ME

Hi. My name is Marlene Sharpe-Westwood and I have been teaching exercise and dance classes for 35 years. I teach exercise classes in Cambridge and surrounding areas that are suitable for adults of all age groups and abilities but I like to push peoples fitness limits if I think they are able.

I enjoy the courses that I attend to keep my qualifications up to date even though it can be difficult to fit them in to my busy life. Since the Pandemic I have attended many online lectures about Long Covid. These have enabled me to help prescribe exercise to clients suffering from this illness and how to understand the health problems Long Covid clients may have.

I like to lead a healthy life myself and can advise on diet and nutrition as well as exercise.

Keeping fit and healthy is a lifestyle. I like to have fun whilst keeping fit, so I try to make my classes fun too! I try to make the class interesting by interacting with the clients, often discussing the latest health and fitness news.

I enter fun runs, use the gym and walk my dog Frankie every day for my personal fitness as well as joining in my own classes. Frankie also likes to join in the online classes as my assistant, much to the amusement of my clients! Keeping fit enables me to enjoy teaching without getting tired or injured. By maintaining my fitness level, I still have enough energy left to enjoy being with my family which includes enjoying time with my five grandchildren.

In 2021 one of my clients nominated me for a Cambridgshire Live Heroes award.

Although I didn't win I was so proud to get to the final in the Health Care Heroes category
